"The untamed and capable off-road...Lamborghini"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

I bought this beast in late May of 2006, and so far nothing has gone wrong with it.

General comments?

I am what you would call a die-hard off road enthusiast that is not at all afraid to take icons off road... it's my life. It's odd to say that the near 1000 miles that I have put on the LM002 is mostly off-road. I currently own 2 land rovers, and a Jeep Cj-5 (which I use for competitions) and am proud to say that this lamborghini, of all things, is my favorite to use off road. It is actualy quite capable, but almost has too much power and inspires a lot of unwanted wheel spin. The first time I took it off road, I was laughed at, but by the end of the day, I was marveled. ironic, eh? But, on the road this thing is like no other. It's quite hard to describe the feeling of driving something so...awkward. The V-12 is sooo powerful and really does a good job of making this thing feel like a sports car. I tend to get some really strange stares while driving down the road, especially on the freeway when people see something of this calibur screaming past them. It's quite an experience.

The fuel consumption is absolutely outrageous, but it is an SUV with a V-12, so hey I can't really complain. I'll agree with the other reviewer of the lambo, the interior definately could have been designed better. It is awkward to say the least.

I find it interesting that Lambo, known for really fast sporty cars, made an SUV! Apparently they only made 301 of them and produced the LM002 for 8 years. It looks kind of a cross between a Hummer SUT and some weird jeep. Apparently the V12 had 444 horsepower too! I'll bet it gets great gas mileage! LoL.

I am pursuing an LM just like yours. What do they cost? How much was yours?

May I not give enough praise to this vehicle, only one thing has broken: a tie rod. That was from me mis-judging a trail and hitting a rock in just the right spot. Oops! I paid the original owner 15 grand because he "wanted to make room for his daughters car." OK... I didn't quite understand that one, but I wasn't about to complain! I can't imagine someone who would drive mine as hard as I do, and since mine has put up with it all, I see no reason why others couldn't be as tough and durable. If you plan to, however, I wish you many years of fun, enthusiastic driving that leaves a smile on your face every time. So, do yourself a favor and buy it. I think you'll be happy.

YOU PAID ONLY 15 GRAND? I have been searching like a maniac for the last 12 months and have only found examples priced between 70 and 110 grand! The cheapest LM I found was on ebay back in october, which had a buy it now price of 55000, and THAT is a bargain for that car! It was an '87 like yours, but with 18000 miles, white exterior, a new clutch, and Hella lights on top. He also had spare pirrellis and zeros. There was also an '88 back in may that was going for that price. Now, with rising countach values, the LM is being dragged upward with it!

But I must hand it to ya man, you acquired a rare exotic at a true steal! You were smart to pounce on it! You'll be the ultimate envy at the Lamborghini Owners' club! Enjoy your magnificent truck, because you earned it!

Ah yes, a steal it was. Its heart is out on the trails, where its just me and her. I hope to keep it that way. Are still pursuing the vehicle?

OK...this is weird. My LM002 is a 1987 right? Well, the weird thing is, that the interior and exterior resemble that of the last years' with the the "LM/American" package. I have absolutely no idea how this works, the owner before me mentioned nothing about having it upgraded. Also, it's red with beige leather interior.

I fully expect this "reviewer" is out hunting humans on his private island as we speak. (missed the ref.? see--the most dangerous game) The problem with this review is that this car is INCREDIBLY expensive to purchase, let alone maintain. Not to mention, if I could afford one, the last thing I would do was drive it. This vehicle really belongs in a museum, or someplace where the engineering can be marveled, not destroyed. I seriously doubt this reviewer has ever seen this vehicle up close, and if he/she had, then I would ask they include MANY more details--some that even sound real--so others can understand how amazing these cars are.

While you're probably right, the reality is the millionaire/billionaire that would buy this type of vehicle would drive it and not care about maintenance, depreciation, etc. One Saudi buyer had "blinds" installed on his so he could go shooting game without having to leave the vehicle (just like lions do in the wild, LOL).

Do you really believe that this review is a fake? Why must EVERYTHING dealing with exotics HAVE to be fake. No, this review is real, I don't see any reason why it couldn't be. Now, if you really want an example of a fake, look at the other review/s.

And your reference to "The most dangerous game" was rather rude...

Yes, I absolutely believe this review is fake. About 300 of these vehicles were made and I doubt very much that two of the owners are here, among complete strangers, just to brag about how awesome they are.

As for the reference, it was supposed to be mocking, so I'm glad that was interpreted correctly. I don't think that all exotic reviews are false, but this car is so exotic, so rare, I doubt very much any review of it.

And as for it being a "capable off-road vehicle" of course it would be, what else would a person who's never driven the car say?

If exotic owners want to come here and review cars they own, let them, but ask for something more than their word. The site ought to let them download pics so they can REALLY brag about how wonderful their flawless machine is. I just think this is a lot of nonsense.

The best part about this "critic" is, he's totally right. You wouldn't drive this thing anywhere unless you were a complete moron--even a billionaire moron. Think about it: how does someone get to be so rich? Not by wasting their money like a drunken sailor, that's how.

Also, the cheesy tone of the review makes it sound really juvenile. I hate to agree with trolls, or cynics, but this kid is lying.

Fun reading, though.

My garage: 1985 Bitter SC, 1973 Jaguar E-Type V12 2x2 Coupe, 1924 Fiat 519S Spyder, James Bonds Submarine Lotus Esprit and the car from Flubber. And if you believe the above "review" you should ask me about buying one of these mechanical wonders.

You wouldn't drive it because you don't think it should be driven. However, I believe that it's what it's made to do, and by golly I'm going to do it.

"By golly" go ahead, but I don't think this thing exists. Maybe you could include some form of proof if you are going to claim such rara avis in your garage. Personally, I think people have a right to expect a little honesty in this space, and my conscience tells me that this type of review is anathema to the intent of this site.

Furthermore, if we are to believe you bought an $80K vehicle for $15K, you ought to give more of a reason than the seller wanted to "make room for his daughter's car." Are we to believe that car was...what? something more exotic?

Finally, and this is the last time I'm going to come here and write about this car, you keep checking back to see what other people are saying. This fulfills a need, I assume, that the true owner of one of these would have no use for. I suspect this will end the discussion for you, unless you didn't understand my point.
