1974 Land Rover 88 SWB safari review from UK and Ireland
"The best hardcore offroader for the money"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Only fault I've ever had was a dodgy fuel gauge.
Have changed the springs through age, but nothing was at "fault".
General comments?
Amazing fun to drive as you can feel "everything" that is going on in the vehicle and hear it too. Have fitted an LPG kit and weber carb resulting in a very economical vehicle. (40mpg)
Off road only a defender or a Merc G wagon comes close. I fitted 32" tyres and ferodo brakes to match. And a few other additions.
This vehicle has taken some punishment and has never let me down. After a hard day off road a wash and check and you have a vehicle that is classless and good looking (in a Tonka toy sort of way)
For what it was built for it was simply fantastic.
