1998 Land Rover Defender TD5 review from UK and Ireland
"The best 4 X 4 X far"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Minor everyday things until now. Engine needed replacing ant 50000. Common rail burst leading to diesel filling the sump.
General comments?
A 2nd hand engine with 9000 miles was easily obtained as there are plenty of Land rovers overturned etc.
Land rover will pay for some of the repairs if done at an approved dealership however tou need to put in a new engine at £3000 which is dearer than insytalling a second hand one.
An off road vehicle that cannot be beaten by anything else.
It will go anywhere and tow anything without a grunt and the TD5 models can nip on on road.
