1997 Land Rover Discovery SE7 review from Australia and New Zealand
"A secondhand 4WD bargain if you can service the vehicle yourself or by a local garage"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The Discovery has so far proved to be a very relaible vehicle, contrary too many reports I have read from other owners.
The only fault I have experienced with the vehicle has been a loose accelerator kick-down cable, which I fixed in 2 minutes. The loose cable prevented the transmission from kicking down to the next gear when the pedal was fully depressed.
General comments?
The Discovery is a very comfortable vehicle which is highly capable in the bush. Unlike the series II which has traction control, mine has the simple diff lock which proves to be far more effective off-road. I take the car into the bush for a workout every two weeks, and it still drives me to work every weekday without a problem.
The rear seats are comfortable, but the two extra seats in the rear are for young children only.
The driver's footrest is difficult to access due to the plastic cvoer which hides the wiring being far too close to the pedals, so your foot can get caught, but I am now used to it.
