1999 Land Rover Discovery GS review from UK and Ireland
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Clutch replaced at 27k miles. It did n't fail, but was making a high-pitched sound. Dealer said plates were not aligned and replaced it under warranty.
Water leak around windscreen. Two trips to garage to repair this.
Fuel pump failed at 57k miles. Dealer reluctantly replaced this under warranty. Tried to charge me €600, but backed down after I threatened legal action.
General comments?
Very happy with it, despite the problems.
The vehicle is a commercial, and because of the low taxation on commercial vehicles in Ireland, it is great value.
Not happy at all with the dealer who tried to charge me €600 to replace the fuel pump even though it was covered by the warranty. They argued that the warranty didn't apply in Ireland!
