1999 Land Rover Discovery Dicovery series 2 review from North America
"The Land Rover Discovery series 2, is an expensive lemon. More like lemonade"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The land rover has had a numerous amount of problems. The main problems have to deal with the engine, and getting a $1300 tune up every 35 days of so. Its been a nightmare that will soon be coming to an end.
The front and back sun roof leaks, which I've had repaired 4times now at the dealership and it still leaks when it rains.
The 5 disk CD player had to be replaced once since I've owned it.
The rear left brake light always seems to go out.
The front low fog lights seem to get filled with water and go out.
The sun visors lights never come on when expected. Had to replace numerous bulbs, and still don't work.
General comments?
This vehicle can sure haul, and it pulls my horse trailer great. Which I've only pulled once, due to the rental cars which we get. Which seems like 3days a month.
The car has terrible brakes which get worn down, and usually needs replacing after 3months or so.
This car is used back and forth to work only. Never has touched mud, no sand.
It's a high quality vehicle with too many unexpected problems.
For instance the 70,000 mile tune up is $1400, and the 95,000 mile tune up is $1200.
Its still a gas hog, and I average about 16mpg on the freeway, and 12-14 in the city.
This had been my biggest money spender for the past 5years.
My next car will be the BMW X5, or maybe helicopter, due to all the problems and high traffic in SEATTLE, WA.
If you own this car already I wish you the best of luck.
