2003 Land Rover Freelander SE review from Spain
"An excellent car owned and driven from new for 6 years"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Electric window winders (3 of 5) have broken at various times due to a small plastic clip on the cable snapping. It appears to be production / design fault because the windows have not been abused in any way.
I have had 2 new clutches. 1 at 60,000kms and 1 at 115,000kms, but I blame this on the fact that I have used the car for towing a builders trailer uphill in reverse, which is not really recommended for any car.
The radio CD (6 CD unit) was replaced twice under warranty for the inability to read the CDs, and the CD err message was displayed.
General comments?
The Freelander TD4 is probably the best of the range for reliability & economy.
It's comfortable on long journeys and not at all difficult to drive.
