"If you get one with no problems you will be lucky"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Exhaust pipe broken in half after 18 months.

Alarm and immobilizer replaced after 20 months.

Anti roll bars repaired.

Head gasket replaced twice. New engine installed at 36,000 miles.

Replaced tires twice.

General comments?

I regret the day that I signed for this vehicle, I waited six months for delivery and since the first service I have had many problems resulting in at least three months of the road. The dealership service and Land Rover after sales have been disgraceful.

Just these Easter holidays gone... I had the head

gasket replaced on my '98 1.8lt Freelander too... had no family car for the

whole holidays... a real inconvenience it was... not to mention the bill I got too...

Recently (1,000 kms later)...the car starts running a little rough... and then starts to blow grey

smoke... so I immediately take in back to ULR (melb. LR dealer)... and tell them to sort it out AGAIN...

Got a call yesterday... saying now it's cylinder 2 that's leaking water into it (cyl 3 last time)...AND...it's not just a head gasket again... but this time it's a cracked

cylinder!!!

AND...NOW I need a whole NEW ENGINE... and it'll cost ME... around $9,000

!!!

My Freelander has only just ticked over 50,000 kms..and has had every service done by the book!

SO I told LR... that if they don't cover this.. (since it is a well know manufacturer's design fault)..I'll be getting my lawyer to deal with this... and I'll

go to the press about it too... since this is obviously not the first time this has happened!
