1993 Lexus ES300 review from North America
"A smooth slice of heaven"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
When I first purchased the vehicle, I had to put new tires on it (expensive, since this car thrives on Michelin's), as well as new brakes. In terms of mechanical problems, I have had none thus far.
General comments?
This vehicle was expertly engineered, smooth engine and transmission, and excellent reliability. I was a bit hesitant to purchase a vehicle with so many miles on it, but the car has proved me wrong; it will easily outlast 200,000 on the odometer.
The interior is superb, with many amenities that really prove itself distinct from the poorer cousin, the Camry. Automatic climate control, leather seats, and a sunroof have been my favorite options, a large step up from my previous Corolla. My only two qualms are that the CD changer is mounted in the trunk, and sometimes I cannot find a comfortable setting on the power seats.
Outside, the car looks sleek, with good looking wheels and two tone paint. White is an easier color to keep clean, I have discovered.
The convenient part about owning a Lexus is that Toyota can service it. Lexus models, mechanically speaking, are corporate twins of the Toyota models, so it is not unfamiliar territory for them. Any consumer looking at an older used Lexus should have it checked out by one of their mechanics, but no doubt, it will be a worthwhile purchase.
