1. Clunk occurs when the foot-break is released.
2. Car runs with noise as if the gear is in
"L" position while it's actually in "D"
position, it even happens at the speed of
40 miles/h and higher.
Are these problem caused by some defect of the transmission? It is Lexus Certified Pre-Owned,
though. This clunk is very uncomfortable indeed.
Please someone kindly tell me the cause of the trouble while it will be checked by Lexus Service
tomorrow.
No. There is a TSB out on this for a replacement Driveline and lower rear control arm bushings. This is covered under the 7yr/70K warranty.
I have a 2004 Lexus GX 470. Sometimes, after I have come to a complete halt, the transmission does something and it feels like someone has hit the car from behind. I actually look behind me to see who did it. The drive shaft has been replaced, but the clunking is still there. It may also shift rough as one accelerates from a stop. Does anyone know what may cause this problem? It has been happening the entire time I have owned the car which was purchased used with the warranty from my dealer.
For all those complaining about clunking noise, there is TSIB DL002-07 dated May 29, 2007. This is to replace the driveshaft assembly, lower and upper control arms. This repair is covered under the Lexus Powertrain Warranty and is in effect for 72 months or 70000 miles. Applicable Vehicles: 2003-2007 GX 470.
My LX470 2008 has a grinding noise under the shifter when it starts up in the morning and when reversing out of the garage. I've already had the TSB to replace the drive train (arms?) for the clunking noise and that is resolved. Has anyone else experienced this type of grinding noise upon cold start?
