The temperature gauge blew out after the few weeks. This is a common problem!
Some of the light bulbs on the instrument panel have begun to fade.
Front seat belts have begun to wear
prematurely.
Brake pads tend to wear too easily.
My Lexus is an excellent car that is worth buying.
Considering its age it still outperforms most other luxury cars in terms of noise control, stereo system and standard features.
Although the exterior and interior looks outdated, this car still has the ability to impress passing traffic.
The dark grey leather trim and the dashboard is dull. The fact that the front seats are as hard as a rock does not boost the comfort either.
However, this car is enjoyable to drive, even on the worst roads I can think of. Furthermore, its enormous power-plant and suspension system is terrific. At full throttle, the noise of the engine is quite low and so is the cabin.
The quality of the 7 speaker stereo system, which is standard, is almost difficult to beat even now.
I have a Lexus LS 400 and I love it, but the stereo system does not sound right. Do you have any ideas? it sounds flat with not enough bass I have tried all the adjustments and it still sounds bad,
Thanks for any input,
Lionel Peralta.
Re: lack of bass. My LS400 had the cone surrounding perish on the subwoofer (not surprising after 10 years exposure to sun). Lexus will sell you a new one for about $200 but you can find someone who repairs speakers to fix it for under $50 (with a more durable surround quite likely) as I did. Not hard to remove and replace yourself either (unlike much else in the car). If that's not enough bass for you then you'll have to go aftermarket, but I couldn't bear the thought of having my dash pulled out etc. and was happy with factory stereo.

I love my Lexus and have 190,000 miles with only one problem..
The stereo's Anti-theft device was engaged due to my mistake. I called the dealer and they want $150.00 to re-set it! Does anyone know how to re-set the stereo without taking it to the dealer? I can't see it being that hard to do.
Thanks.
