2001 Lexus RX300 review from North America
"Buy a Ford"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The Transmission failed in my Lexus 2001 RX300 with only 81,000 miles on it on my way to a job interview. I couldn't believe it since I had ran a Ford, Mercury and Dodge with over 150,000 miles and no tranny problems. I thought I was buying a QUALITY Toyota-based luxury prduct and planned on being a lifetime Lexus buyer. The smooth ride of RX for an SUV sold me, but I am so disgusted with the lack of quality in RX300 Lexus I want to spit.
I did regular oil-changes and vehicle maintence. What a shock after reading many consumer forums about Lexus. It seems Lexus has a known tranny issue and has chose to ignore it, but still want to maintain their prestigue. Well check out the CLass-action lawsuit about the Oil Sludge problems in teh Engine. We need to file one for the Transmission defects.
General comments?
The smooth ride of the RX300 for an SUV sold me, but the tranny issue is a HUGE and unacceptable expense for a $40,000 vehicle.
