2000 Lexus RX300 RX review from North America
"Silky smooth ride and dependable - we loved it"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Rear main seal replaced.
Several oxygen sensors replaced.
Power steering hose leak.
Catalytic converter needs replacing.
General comments?
Leased this car in January 2000 for $38.5K. Couldn't bear to give it back after the 39 months was up, so bought it out for $23K (sounds high, but original residual was rated at 67%!)
Most luxurious and well-mannered car I've ever driven. No real problems encountered until recently (still got original transmission, no oil gel, etc.)
Now, it's leaking from the power steering hose & the catalytic converter may need to be replaced. Of course, Lexus dealers charge an arm & leg for this stuff yet the parts are hard to come by except through the dealer.
So, time to trade it in soon for something a little more modern (2000 RX had no options for ESC or side-curtain airbags, for example)
It seems others had many more problems than we did at much lower miles, hard to tell if we're the lucky ones or they're the unlucky ones...
