1999 Lexus RX300 2wd review from North America
"Overdrive problems"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Replaced MAF sensor at 124, 000 miles
replaced knock sensors at 124,000 miles.
General comments?
I thought I was having problems with the transmission too because the car wouldn't go into overdrive.
I took it to a small shop and they replaced the mass air flow sensor and two knock sensors and the car runs like new again. very glad that it wasn't the transmission. it still cost 1100 to fix, but the MAF sensor are about 100 dollars and the knock sensors are around 200 dollars each for parts from autozone. I think that was a good deal though I didn't shop around. the tranny goes into safe mode when the sensors are bad and won't go into overdrive.
That's all the repairs in seven years of owning this car, so I'm happy.
