1961 Lincoln Continental review from North America

""One of the greatest, and rarest cars you can find""

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Well I've noticed that I'm leaking oil from the oil pan pretty badly. The power windows don't work, and the power door locks do not work either. I'm having problems just trying to start it, I think it's the battery and it needs to be fully charged, since the car has been sitting for over six months. Overall the car hasn't giving me any more problems since I have only owned the car for about 3 weeks now. The front seats are perfect, but the back seats are faded and have cracks in them.

General comments?

All I can say is "Wow" this Lincoln is the best looking, and best running classic I have ever owned. I have owned two Cadillacs in the past a 1972 Sedan De ville and a 1968 Coupe De ville and by far my 61 Continental rides the smoothest and looks the best out of the two. I swear this car takes the nastiest bumps, and pot holes like they weren't even there. I love this car, and I have always wanted an old 60's Lincoln Continental. I was lucky enough to find this one in decent shape with minor problems. The greatest feature on this car is how the front end looks kinda like a T-Bird, and of course the suicide doors are a huge feature. I can't believe how well made this car is. There isn't any cheap plastic or cheap materials any were unlike new cars. The body and doors feel like cement. Even though this car is unit-body designed it has to be one of strongest body structure car ever made. I mean my Cadillac's are solid, but not as solid as the Lincoln. The Cadillacs used a perimeter frame design, and even though the 61 Continental used unit-body construction, if I could do a head on collision test with my 68 Coupe De ville and the 61 Continental, I say the 61 would win. This car is a weekend cruiser, I would never sell this baby for anything regard less if I have tons of problems with it. I can't wait until I get a paint job and fix some of the electrical problems that hamper the experience, but of course it's going to take time and a lot of money. In the end it will be worth it.
