2000 Lincoln LS review from North America
"Don't buy it!!!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Valve covers leaked day after driving off the lot. Replaced by dealer for free. 9 months after owning car, electrical problem in steering column causing the horn to go off. $190 to repair. Multiple lug nut replacements due to stripping of lug nuts by shop rotating tires. Passenger window wouldn't go up. non-dealer fixed for $140. One year after owning, the timing chain tensioner broke and it cost $1700 to repair and car died totally one day after getting out of the shop but dealer fixed no charge and said it was a timing issue. Now 2 years after purchase the timing chain tensioner went out again. The dealer that fixed it gone out of business and their work was under warranty for one year! I went to a Lincoln dealer and they fixed for $2000 and also fixed a flex plate in the tranny which caused rattling noise for $500. AND they said the rear bearings are going out and should be repaired for $1600.
General comments?
It is a great handling car and looks good is all I can say otherwise it is a jalopy.
