2001 Lincoln LS LSE review from North America
"Fun car to drive once you get the kinks out of the way"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
My LS started misfiring at 80,000 miles. I started doing some research on the car, I had to replace one coil at a cost of 75 dollars. After doing the research, I found that leaking valve cover problems were common, so before I had more problems I also replaced the left side valve cover gauge. That saved me a lot of time and money. My misfire problems have since gone away. Also using 93 octane fuel makes the vehicle run better.
At 105000 miles my A/C started acting up blowing hot air then back to cold. I took it to the dealer and the problem could not be figured out; the problem could never be reproduced with them. I took it to a mechanic I know and had him vacuum out the freon and re charge it again, haven't had the problem since. I also learned that they have problems with dual zone climate control, so I don't allow anyone to adjust the A/C; I keep it at one temp.
At 106,000 miles I had a problem with the transmission. The vehicle would not go above 65 miles and the revs were at 6000, but when you would turn it off and turned it back on, the problem would go away for about 10 minutes, then it would start again, and again I turned the car off and back on, and the problem would be gone, and 10 minutes later the problem would be back. So I took it to the dealer and they kept the car for 2 days, I got the car back and have not had the problem again. Oh, the dealer did not charge me anything.
At 113000 the vehicle would accelerate on its own. I would start the car and it would go straight to 4000 revs. I would turn it off then back on, and it would be back to normal. On the highway I wouldn't even press the gas and I would be gaining speed. I had to constantly press the brakes, and at red lights it was hard keeping the vehicle stopped. I would have to put it in neutral, and when I stopped I disconnected the battery and connected it again, and that seemed to fix the problem. That just happened one day and never has it happened again.
General comments?
The vehicle is very quick, and I love the V8 engine.
It's a really fun car to drive. I like that I have the option to either drive it like an automatic or like a manual.
The 50/50 weight distribution also makes the car great at handling. I was able to avoid some dangerous material that fell from a semi truck and I did not lose control.
