I am amazed that there are so many people with the same problems. I have replaced the window motor, brakes (several times), shocks, and wheel barrings for the rattling noise that sounds as if the front end is about to come off; spark plugs/wires, thermostat for the hot smell and heater not blowing hot air, sputtering engine, decrease in power and ac blowing cold air sometimes and not so cold sometimes. The window motor seems to be the only thing I've replaced that actually fixed the problems I've had. Everything else has been a waste of money. Same problems still exist. And of course when I bought the car 3 years ago it was worth what I paid and now with all the problems its worth about 1/2 of what I owe! Makes me want to cry.

Oh my gosh, I am so glad I found this site. I thought it was just my LS that was a pile of crap. I have been having problems for awhile and haven't gotten anything figured out. The car was having sputtering like all the others above while accelerating and on highway and now it runs like crap, missing and sputtering, just idling in the driveway. We replaced coil and plugs and it ran like new for about 3 days. Then, totally back to the way it was, it was just teasing I guess. LOL Computer at autozone showed missfire on both sides. Not sure what to do next, I guess try vaccum lines? Now the passenger front and rear windows won't work, front one totally fell down in the door. This thing goes through brakes and rotors like crazy and I am so fed up. Thanks for all the info above and let me know of any lawsuits or anything. Thanks. nstar416@yahoo.com.

Hi everyone.

I bought my 2000 LS in 2002, I have 117,000 miles on it now.

I have gone through every problem listed. Windows (4) fixed under warranty, Oil smell, fixed under warranty, all (8) sensors my $$$$$, front end loose factory recall, front end on me $$$$, now clock spring on me $$$$. But you know some thing, you shine it up and take it on a highway cruise, no better touring car on the road. But fellas that's just me.

I would never take my other car on a 2hr. ride anywhere.

My wife and I drive in comfort, when we go to Ct. to see my son. One more thing I try not to drive it the day of a snow storm. IT IS A SLED even with the accu trak.

The Vooch.

Owner of a 2000 Lincoln LS V6, I bought this car from a co-worker that warned me that it was a "piece of crap", his words. He had replaced many of the part mentioned earlier, and still had lots of problems.

The car had all the coils, plugs, and wires replaced, but was still rough idling. The air-conditioning (AC) would also stop working while idle, but that got resolved when they replaced the PCM (some say Programmable Computer Module others Powertrain Computer Module) which ever it is, about $550.00... fixed the problem right away. The misfire and the rough idling stopped, along with the lack of AC.

It now drives like a dream ride, hopefully stays that ways. Now I need to address the clock spring, to get rid of the air bag light and restore my steering wheel controls.

Should a class action law suit get started, please let me know. I'll bring my experiences and headaches to the table. Hvac007@socal.rr.com

Hello everyone-

I have read most of the comments and it's now my turn.

I bought my LS brand new in October of 2000. I am still driving it and today it has 253,000 miles on it.

It's the V-6 and here we are approaching 9 years!!

To date-

Both rear window regulators have had to be replaced.

The coils have been replaced as well, albeit one or two at a time.

I have also replaced the degas (coolant) bottle.

I have never been afraid to take my car anywhere- It has been a dependable workhorse for me, but now she is beginning to show some signs of her age and mileage... I am battling an overheating issue which I believe is the hydraulic fan.

The engine uses about a half a quart of oil between changes, and for the miles that ain't too bad.

I would say that I have gotten my moneys worth and then some.

I am sorry to hear all the problems.. good luck.

To all the people complaining about windows regulators - there IS in fact Ford TSB about them on Lincoln LS. Just take it to the dealer and they should be replaced free of charge. My 2001 LS V8 developed this issue few years ago on one of the windows, I took it to the dealer and they actually replaced both (free of charge). No complains.

W.R.T. to other issues - lots of it is true. Funny how my car did not see any problems until it ran out of warranty (6y/72K miles). Shortly after that - coils on 4 cylinders, CAT (replaced under federal-mandated warranty - free of charge), coolant tank and auxiliary water pump, and worn ball joints. Then again - it's got 85K miles, at that point lots of cars develop problems and need repairs. I should have sold at 60K, as I did with my Nissan before, but I decided to gamble.

Hello everyone. I too have had all the problems that we all have experienced. Now as of yesterday, my 2000 Lincoln LS started shutting off whenever I come to a complete stop, so I have to take it out of gear so it will not die. Transmission jerks driving and in reverse. Class action suit - we all must agree. We all have the same problems from west coast to east coast.

I have a 2000 Lincoln LS. I bought it back in 2002 with 48,000 in it. Now it has 283,000 and is running better than ever. I've travel to the west coast once a week for the last 5 years and everything is working good.

I'm sorry for y'all, my LS is great other than regular maintenance; you know oil, air filter and power steering fluid, everything is great.

I have a 2000 Lincoln Ls and need some help. My car keeps overheating and I have already replaced the thermostat and water pump. I have no milky oil, no steam from exhaust. Fan kicks on, I can hear the water boiling from my reserve tank, and my heater works sometimes. Any ideas of what it can be? Email me at renetristan210@yahoo.com

Thanks.

I understand all the comments that have been made - and experienced ALL of them as well - including ball joints too - I'd be interested in a class action law suit too, email me petrphairo@hotmail.com.

Ya, I was thinking that my LS 2001, "was a nice car", just didn't know how many things could go wrong on one car. I'm going back to a Toyota. An expensive piece of junk - this car has broke me in more ways than one!
