"Horrible!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

I hate this car so much I have not put one penny into fixing anything I'm about to tell you and I'm not ever going to. I paid cash for it and I'm going to count my loss by watching it burn. I'm serious. my trans went yesterday had to be towed,my struts, sway bar, or something screwed when I go over speed bumps slowly it hits hard and I mean hard. sounds like the bottom of my car is hitting the ground. hot air on driver side and cool on passenger in summer. got the burning smell when cold most likely valve cover gasket, water in head lights and fog lights, pass window rubber came loose soaked my car one night. I did fix that. cd player won't give my cd's back or play them, i getting 15 miles a gal, air bag, trac control, ABS lights always on says check advance track, when rains brake light also comes on, cruise control no more, moonroof I opened it a a piece plastic hit my head, can't open it anymore had heck getting it closed, turn on my heater one morning and my vent cover snapped into and flew in the seat, phantom beep a msg flashes something so fast I can only read gear and shift, my compus and heated seats work when they feel like it (rarely) theres more I just can't think of them theres so much. from what I've been reading ford needs to take ownership and give every penny of our money back.

General comments?

I love the look of the car, but if i'd known about this site i'd never made the mistake of buying the car. buyer beware.

I have a 2001 LS. I love the car for a few months at a time, then something else goes wrong. I really think it has electrical problems and is poorly engineered. I agree with you 100%, I think Ford should back up this piece of junk. My next car will be foreign made.

I would never buy another Lincoln product again. I have had nothing, but constant problems with it. Within three months of ownership I have had the sensors replaced over 10 times, there has been consistent problems with shifting gears, the transmission blew after 8000 Kilometers, the list goes on and on. Yet my wife's Volvo S80 which she has had for three years now has had NO trouble. Next time around I am going to buy a Volvo.

Yes, I have a Lincoln LS 2001. My valve cover gasket is messed up. Nice looking cars, but a piece of junk. I could never understand the burning smell that came inside the car. Waiting for the mechanic to give me a price.

Ps. I assume you would also agree with me if you had such problems with your car.

Remember the movie money pit.. At least I think that was the name with Shelley Long and Tom Hanks? Well that is how I feel. I just made my fist payment on my used 2001 Lincoln Ls and I found out that I need front end work. Upper and lower ball joints and you can't buy them from a auto part store because Ford won't release the blue prints. I drive 80miles a day just to work and the parts alone I need is 800.00 not counting labor! I live paycheck to paycheck and I had changed my mind about even buying the piece of junk, but the car dealer told me how hard he worked to get me financed... since I just went through a divorce and got the shaft and I said are you sure this will be a good car for me.. I struggle and I can't afford to have lots of problems.. I am stupid OH MY GOSH! Looks are deceiving, but so was my salesman. He didn't inform me how high the upkeep is on this car when I told him I was worried and unsure if I should even buy a car. Avoid Lincoln Ls.

I agree, this is the worst car I have ever owned in my entire life. I would not recommend this car to my worst enemy. When I purchased my dream car, my 2001 Lincoln LS in May of 2004, I thought I had something special and I thought I had something that would last me a few years. When I purchased the car, it only had 24,580 miles on the car, so I felt I had the perfect car with low miles. Now I am stuck with a car payment and a lemon. I have to wonder when I see other Lincoln L's on the road, looking all nice, but I know they are running so bad. Ford should get an award for making the worst car in the world. I guess that's why they stop making Lincoln L's, praise the Lord for that. But now we are riding around town and the car looking so good, but running so bad. I am embarrassed to drive my car, it has been sitting still in the yard for months. 1. The car has been overheating since 2005 and when I took it to Ford, it would not overheat for them on several occasions. 2. The car has a squeaking sound, like a car from 1919. 3. The check engine light has been on since 2006. The airbag light has been on since 2006. This car should be recalled for every single one of these problems, because it seems to be an issue with all Lincoln LS. I don't want to purchase another Lincoln, these cars are bad news with car payments.

I have had my 2001 Lincoln LX for less than a year... the WORST car I have EVER owned or driven. Within one year I have had to put in a new alternator, battery, tires, brakes, heater core, hydraulic pump, air conditioning unit, power steering pump and the list goes on and on. The car may look good, but I would NOT recommend this car to anyone! The check engine light always stays on, the air bag lights always stay on and the brakes are terrible even when new. This car is a death trap ~ a waste of my hard earned dollars. I purchased this car for $5,000 and I have put over $7,000 in repairs. Most of the parts have to come straight from the Lincoln dealership, you cannot get them from an auto part store. For instance, the hydraulic pump at NAPA runs about $200. But they do not have the special kind that the Lincoln needs. So... you have to buy it directly from the dealership which runs over $500. What's the deal? DO NOT CONSIDER EVER BUYING A LINCOLN LX! Please pass this on to anyone and everyone you know that is interested in buying a car ~ DO NOT BUY A LINCOLN!

I bought a 2003 Lincoln LS V8 on November 2007 with 49,000 miles, I previously owned Mark VII's Mark VIII and Continentals (I should have kept my 1999 Continental, what a great car).

Anyway, the first day that I took my LS home, the engine was shaking (some oil leaks that were leaking got into the valves and it was an actual recall, which I didn't have to pay for.

One day, the passenger window collapsed ($300 repair).

Then, the air conditioner started blowing hot air on the driver side and little cool on the passenger side. I took the car to a small auto shop and they could not find the problem, it had to be diagnosed with the dealer computer. To make a long story short, it was a valve control that ended up costing me $700.00, the steering wheel started making a squeaky noise that never stopped, and the worst was when I was driving and all of a sudden the engine died! There was a message on the computer saying: Fuel computer error! everything went including the power steering, thank god I was able to pull to the side of the road.

And the sound system, even though it sounds great, quite often the system displayed "CD error" you had to turn the engine off and restarted again to make it work. I was so frustrated that I ended up trading my Lincoln even though I was $10,000 upside down, I got a 2009 Lincoln MKZ and so far so good. Don't you ever get a Lincoln LS unless you want to become financially ruined.

I hope the last commenter can find time to write a review of the model year 2009 MKZ. I am really happy with mine. Maybe there would be some more reviews written on the MKZ if the people running CarSurvey.org would put MKZ in the main list of Lincoln cars instead of hiding it under Zephyr.

DO NOT BUY A LINCOLN LS!! PLEASE PUT YOUR MONEY INTO SOMETHING THAT WILL RUN FOR LONGER THAN 3 WEEKS BEFORE REPLACING ANOTHER PART.

I'm a single mother and thought I was buying a nice car for myself, replacing my VW Passat that was a great car. I bought a used 2005 Lincoln LS with 48K miles. I was told it was a great car. I didn't have it for a week before it broke down.

First it started with the a coil... then 3 weeks later another coil... 1 week later another coil. One month later thinking I just had a coil problem... the "computer brain system" failed... or so they told me at the dealership. What a lemon... seriously... I have lost more time at work and put more energy and money into getting my car fixed then even worth...!!!

Then 7 months later another coil gone!!! Are you kidding me... how many coils does this piece of crap have... 6 so I am told... so I guess this will happen again in a few months.

Now MY CAR WILL NOT START IN THE RAIN!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME! So they say it's the battery! Nope wasn't that... still won't start... I can't even jump start the stupid thing because the battery is in the trunk and the trunk is electric and will not open... not even with a key. So the dealership tells me a professional must come and jump start it from a positive charge under the hood and ground the neg. to the engine... but I am not allowed to do this... because if it is done wrong... the memory system will blow!! Great... so no one can find the FREAKING problem... and every time it rains... you can consider me carless... no work... no kid to school... waiting on a tow truck! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!

I HATE THIS CAR SO MUCH! Yeah it looks great and people think it's a nice car - but little do they know! I will tell everyone I know to NEVER buy a Lincoln!! ANY LINCOLN PERIOD AS ALL I HEAR IS CRAP!!!

~BROKE, SINGLE LADY WITH A GREAT LOOKING CAR IS OFFICIALLY ANGRY!!

I own a 2001 Lincoln LS. Hahahaha this car makes me laugh every morning I look at it. I just dumped $3,000 in to it; struts mounts, links, sway bar and bushings, tires, brakes, thermostat...

I'm driving today and the engine light comes on and the car is shaking... I don't know if it's going to blow up or just finally die... I wanna cry thinking about how much I spent between buying and fixing this piece of crap... Ford should pay us to drive these cars.

WOW, I thought it was just me. The similarities in the problems people are having with their Lincoln LS is ridiculous. I purchased my Lincoln LS 4 years ago and I believe it has cost me more in repairs than it has in payments.

I have replaced my tail light lenses due to water getting in and causing them to short out, blowing the fuses and bulbs every time.

Head gaskets and all spark plugs from all the oil leaking all over.

Sensors in my transmission.

Fuel pump and filter, and the car still runs like crap.

Sway bar, tie rods, rotors, brakes, hub assembly and brakes are still screeching and throwing brake dust all over my rims. How much more crap is in the wheels?

Check engine light, air bag light, and the quick on off beeping on the dash trying to tell me something, but can never quite get a look at it before it goes off. Ya I have that problem too.

I could have built a whole new car by now you would think. I keep holding onto the thought that it has to come to a end at some point, but I'm about ready to trade this lemon in for something new, and it sure won't be from the Ford dealership.

I just got my 2003 Lincoln LS, and like others... thought that I had a pretty good investment.

With the economy being at its worst in decades, I got this car to get rid of having a car note.

A week after I got it, this wrench symbol came on. Took it in, they said spark plugs, took it home, same thing, and engine shakes on a cold start. Took it back, they said electrical coils, changed all six, nope engine still shakes, then they said it's the PCM - oh well.

I don't care if the wheels fall off, I paid cash for the crap and it has already cost me $1600. I just have to deal with the engine shaking in the morning for the first minutes.

This must be where everyone just complains! I bought my 2000 LS V8 4 years ago.

Yeah I had to replace the valve cover gaskets and coils.

Once air got into the water pump and the car over heated, but I shut her down real fast and cracked the cap and the fluid flowed again. But dang, the car averages 23 MPG and I run around 80! Once got 29 MPG on a 200 mile trip, probably because the tires were wore and so hard they had no friction.

Have 161,000 miles on it and going strong! Love it and not sorry!
