2000 Lincoln LS review from North America
"A real peice of junk"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
It started out with a fogged headlight and hasn't stopped. In less than a month, I have sunk $3,000 into this car. You name it, ball joints, tie rods, sensors, emission problems, removed the steering wheel and replaced some other item that might cause the air bag not to deploy in an accident. Belts, and I can go on and on. Last week, I broke down on the highway. Towed my LS to the Lincoln Dealership and paid another $700.00 for work to two hoses that were hard to reach for the radiator and another belt. Drove it off the lot and I'm not joking here... within the hour, broke down again on the interstate. Called the dealer and now they tell me that it's probably a valve that will cost around another $400.00! I'm about to cry : (They tell me that it's been a common problem with the Lincoln LS.
General comments?
I bought this car like a lot of other owners due to it's beauty and styling and a really nice ride. I even read about the car before buying it. Too bad I didn't see all the comments that I am reading about here on this website. This car is like a sick person who just gets sicker no matter how much you do. As I type, my son is sitting on the side of the road waiting for yet another tow truck (that's twice in two weeks!) Pretty soon, Geico is going to send me a letter to inform me of how I am abusing the tow truck service. I am having it towed right back to the dealer after waiting two days and shelling out $700.00 just hours ago. The week before it was $2,000 and the week before that it was $274.00. I am physically sick and I could just cry. I am SO done. I will repair whatever needs repairing and put it up for sale and cut my losses. At the rate I am going, I won't even get what I have had to put out in repair costs. A real piece of junk and I will NEVER buy a Lincoln again. I thought I was getting a really awesome car, if I only knew. If anyone thinks about purchasing a Lincoln LS, think long and hard. Oh... and have a lot of money in the bank for those costly repairs. Better yet, turn around and RUN THE OTHER WAY!
