1976 Lincoln Mark IV review from North America

"She's back in our driveway after a 23 year absence!!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The battery was replaced, along with the alternator, and new tires were put on all at 81000 miles.

General comments?

My wife had a 1976 Mark IV that we bought new back in 1976 after we celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary. Ours was all silver with the alloy wheels. We kept it for 7 years, and we traded it for a Mark VI. That in the end was a big mistake.

We are loyal fans of the Mark series cars, and the Mark IV was our favorite. We own 2 1998 Mark VIII's, but really wanted the exact same one that we had back in 1976. Well, we surfed the car magazines and the internet. Then one day as we were surfing the internet, our wish came true.

Someone was selling an all silver 1976 Mark IV with 80000 miles, and was in great shape. So we looked it up, and called the seller. The car was located in Ohio, but we did not care. All we wanted was a twin of our 1976 back in our driveway. The owner was asking $5200 for it. When we to go and look at it, we thought that our 1976 was cloned. There it was, same color schemes, same alloy wheels, same red pinstripes, and in great shape, and begging for someone to take it home.

We offered the seller the $5200 and drove it home. The car was only used for special occasions, and kept in the garage. It still runs like new, looks that way, and handles that way.

You do not see many silver ones around anymore, but we do see some other colored ones at times. We really love this car, and have no plans of selling it anytime soon.

Parts for this car are getting pretty hard to find, but are worth every penny when it comes to keeping up on them. These are very roomy cars, and are great for pleasure trips. They are fine on gas as well.
