The battery was replaced, along with the alternator, and new tires were put on all at 81000 miles.
My wife had a 1976 Mark IV that we bought new back in 1976 after we celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary. Ours was all silver with the alloy wheels. We kept it for 7 years, and we traded it for a Mark VI. That in the end was a big mistake.
We are loyal fans of the Mark series cars, and the Mark IV was our favorite. We own 2 1998 Mark VIII's, but really wanted the exact same one that we had back in 1976. Well, we surfed the car magazines and the internet. Then one day as we were surfing the internet, our wish came true.
Someone was selling an all silver 1976 Mark IV with 80000 miles, and was in great shape. So we looked it up, and called the seller. The car was located in Ohio, but we did not care. All we wanted was a twin of our 1976 back in our driveway. The owner was asking $5200 for it. When we to go and look at it, we thought that our 1976 was cloned. There it was, same color schemes, same alloy wheels, same red pinstripes, and in great shape, and begging for someone to take it home.
We offered the seller the $5200 and drove it home. The car was only used for special occasions, and kept in the garage. It still runs like new, looks that way, and handles that way.
You do not see many silver ones around anymore, but we do see some other colored ones at times. We really love this car, and have no plans of selling it anytime soon.
Parts for this car are getting pretty hard to find, but are worth every penny when it comes to keeping up on them. These are very roomy cars, and are great for pleasure trips. They are fine on gas as well.
Dear Fellow ''Mark 4'' appreciator's,
I must express with you, I share the dream! Well, your reality, my dream! :-)
My first car I drove was my families. Although, I believe it was a late 1975,''Special Edition''..S ilver. "Moondust"! Cranberry/maroon, leather, in oh that marvelous tufting..!
Just the steering wheel, with wood inlay detail even special then, only 2' in 70's,75.76.
And why in God's name, do away with it, till 80's,?
That,and the rear seat armrest?
Like, afraid to be that "comfortable?"
LOL!...
I was always bothered by the floor mats.. Now, they warm me, as evoke..
Those beautiful chrome wheels, I would clean so hard..
The "crown rolls grille", around the vinyl roof. And the "moonroof".. coined there!.. Just that shag plush carpeted trunk..
The body side moldings so detailed, but NOS of those pretties are hard to find!.. every detail, integral in the sculpture/art that is and always remain exclusive, To find another soul out there who "Got It"!
I think how stupid, when people talk about GAS prices.!
One has nothing to do with other!..
Kind of like complaining about developing pictures! Or dog grooming.. and care..
Comfort, nostalgia, is a precious constant sure gift to appreciate your bliss, a thing of happiness, joy and all that makes us feel great!
What in life compares to real JOY!?
Hemmings makes parts so easy to locate for this car, and so inexpensive.
I will buy at least 2 of these Mark's, so I can kick around in one all day, and stare and polish the other one.
I watch Ebay every day.. and have never seen the exact one..!
Many close.. And I do see "Never used" Cartier models in/dove gray, all with velour interior, not to compare!
The look is there, but I will never compromise here! Well, I do have my other gal, A most beautiful Fleetwood Brougham Delegance, now just called a "Brougham".. I adore.. THE last day of the only great true "Cadillacs"! 1991!
God bless YOU SUPER COOL "Lincolnite's"!
Enjoy every moment of everyday;
Follow your dreams never give up, nor compromise,
YOU validate so much for me!
And you are the ONLY souls ever that actually share this secret passion of mine!
God Bless,
ENJOY
Think Of me, when you drive and SMILE!

The '92 Cadillac Brougham was a carry over of the '91, so what makes '91 the last of the True Cadillacs?
To the above commentor who so passionately described his love of Mark IV's, you are wrong about the steering wheel wood grain inlay, my 1979 Collector's Series Mark V has the inlay, so did some Designer Series's of 1977 and the Diamond Jubilee of 1978. Also I learnd how to drive in a 1976 maroon/silver topped and trimmed Mark IV.
"To the above commentor who so passionately described his love of Mark IV's, you are wrong about the steering wheel wood grain inlay"
Hey, don't harsh on his Mark IV mellow.
"Don't harsh on his Mark IV mellow"
I wasn't hating on the guy, just correcting him.
He said that they stopped making the wood inlay in 76. I was telling him that they in-fact made them until 79. In fact it is rather nice to see someone show some affection for these cars and not your usual "Bad gas mileage, under-engineered," comments that many people love to make about these beautiful cars. I love em'. I have 3 Mark IV's, 3 Mark V's and a Mark III. I'm sorry but it bothers me to see people post incorrect info on these sites, whether intentionally or not, and especially about this vehicle. So when I see a misconception, I correct it. At least he did not try to say it was a Cartier series because he saw the clock. You'd be surprised to see how many people make that mistake and have even paid $$$$ more than a car was worth because they thought they were getting a rare special edition when all the got was the base model. Like I said, no offense, but it is, what it is.
I brought the Bill Blass Mark IV 1976 in 1990 and still have it. It has gone through a lot of changes with me, but I still enjoy the car. I have been looking for a chrome behind the driver rear tire, and have no luck finding it. The car runs great, but needs some work to look good again, and the seat is in need of repair. It came with lumbar, but that does not work any longer. If anyone has any ideas about where to find the parts or looking for a really nice automobile, I would be interested in talking to them.
To the gentleman or lady with the Bill Blass Mark IV:
You can maybe get parts from Lincoln Land.com or Bakers Auto.com.
And if you are interested in selling, contact me at Miketastic1982@yahoo.com send me some pics. I am always in the market for another Mark.
