1986 Lincoln Mark VII review from North America

I shredded the serpentine belt, although I should have known better since I didn't replace the belt tensioner when I replaced the belt.

The air springs were butchered when I bought the car. Some hack had replaced the front air springs with coil springs (what a joke) and they could not figure out how to do the same for the rear end so they left the air bags there. But in order to inflate the rear air bag they installed a couple of Schrader valves (like the one on you tire) on the air lines so I had to use a tire pump to inflate the air bags. I replace the ridicules setup with a kit I found on the internet and it worked out great, just so you know the car turned into a low rider after this, I like it but it may not be for everyone.

The car is pretty worn and has its share rust, but consider that it spent its life in Canada in the salt belt it to be expected. It has been remarkably reliable especially since it appears the previous owner cheaped out on maintenance and repairs, which is more that could be said for the VW's I had. So far the only money I spent on it was all maintenance (except for the springs, but I could had easily left that the way it was), and lets face it the only reason I did that was the fact I took a real liking to it. I would highly recommend this car to anyone looking for a unique ride for not a lot of money, but be warned once you go Lincoln you can't go back, every thing else seems inferior.
