Transmission took a dive about 3 months after purchase, the transmission on all, but the 97 and 98 cars are highly suspect and not very reliable over 100k if driven hard.
Air spring suspension is leaks over night in the front.
A good deal of front end work, including, LCA's Lower tie rod ends.
Drivers door handle snapped off.
Wipers only work on high.
Radio works intermittently and cd player no longer works.
Sunroof needs help opening and closing.
It is a very fun car to drive. Having all that power along with pretty good highway gas mileage is a great combo. The car can bring a smile to your face when you down shift going 55mph and bark the tires before you cannon ball ahead. I can get around 25-29 mpg on the interstate going 70mph, granted city mileage inst great, the car being a V8 and all.
The car is a mechanics toy, if you are mechanically inclined this is a great car to own and to even work on sometimes. The air springs are going to be old no matter what car you buy at this point in time, but there are coil spring replacements for about 400 for all 4 corners that will improve, stiffen or lower the ride of the car along with the added reliability. The cabin is unique and the stock sound system is great when it works, it gives me all the bass and noise I need ;).
I currently have glass packs on my car and it a very nice growl to it.
No wonder your transmission blew up you're not supposed to downshift if you are going 55 MPH. I had a 1993 Mark VIII for nearly 2 years and replaced the transmission fluid and filter myself and never had any tranny problems whatsoever. In fact, I didn't have very many maintenance issues at all.
I recommend this car to everyone who is interested, especially since they are cheap because of this recession.
