1997 Lincoln Mark VIII LSC review from North America

"FAST, luxurious, and clean lines; the true definition of American Luxury"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

There is a small leak; most likely from the sunroof.

Transmission stutters when switching into 4th gear. My mechanic says it's about a $40.00 fix, it needs a washer or something along those lines. The problem was caused because this car was driven at a max around 35-45mph by my grandmother.

General comments?

This car was bought by my Grandmother, who recently moved into a retirement home and my father took possession. The car went for its 30,000 mile check up in *2006* with only *18,000 miles* on it. The car has been garaged kept until mid 2007. It has a little over 21,000 ORIGINAL MILES on it. It has the normal older driver marks from trying to park this boat. It handles extremely smooth for a 97' and is more agile than expected for a car that's the length of a full-size truck.

The thing will flat out haul though! The 290hp under that hood will catch you by surprise. The pedal almost has two positions; nice smooth easy acceleration, and bat out of hell fast! I actually like to drive slow so people think they are coming up on some old person in a Lincoln, and then hit the gas when they try to pass and show them that this ain't your Grandpa's Lincoln!

The car is full of luxuries that you would imagine in a car today, not 11 years ago. The puddle lights, the adjusting seats that slide back when you open the door, and move you into the position you want with adjusting steering wheel, the small mirrors face down when backing you to see if your in the spot, or if going to hit the curb, the instrument panel tells you anything you need to know, and the JBL speakers and 6-CD changer will really rattle the rearview mirror.

All in all this is a great car. The only downside is the gas guzzling V8, but it makes it up in the luxuries and the power of one of the last TRUE Luxury Coupes.
