1999 Lincoln Navigator review from North America
"Nice, but has a DEFECT"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Rust along the bottoms of the doors!
This car has been nice except for rust issues. I am still within my corrosion warranty period (for two more months) and went to the dealer to have them look at rust.
Initially I went to my dealers body shop and the shop manager looked at the truck and said there was definitely something WRONG since all four doors were rusting out at the same spot along the seam.
He then sent me on to the main dealership to have them take pictures and get "permission" from Ford to fix the car. The service manager took pictures of all four doors and sent them in to Ford. Within 20 minutes Ford called back and said NO, the warranty claim was denied because the rust has not PERFORATED the door... meaning that since the door is hasn't rusted compltetely thru.. they Won't warranty it. As you know rust is like cancer and WILL rust completely through. Its just a matter of months or maybe a year before all four of my doors have holes in them, but by then Ford won't be culpable anymore.
I'm extremely angry and after looking online I'm seeing that this is a COMMON PROBLEM with Ford products, on the Navigators and the F-150's.
At this point I'm going to do everything in my power to make sure this is a known problem. I work in media and will use my influence to make sure others who have gone thru this are contacted. This is FORD making a mistake in manufacturing and not being willing to take care of it.
General comments?
These cars have a problem with the SEAMS along the underside of the doors. They rust out. Ford will not warranty the work.
If you value your money don't buy a Navigator.
