Sounds great! I'll give it a whirl. Do you want the list of issues now-ish or later when I have enough money? And where are you? And do you do town coupes? My email is wimp_tanner@hotmail.com. I may have to see what my parents think, but I don't think they'll approve, but if I have my own money, I'll do what I want with it. Thanks man.
You can go ahead and give me that list now. I am in Baton Rouge Louisiana. I haven't done any Town Coupes yet, but the electrical and mechanical systems are the same as a Mark. I'll e-mail you some pics of my daily driver when I get a chance. I'd be happy to help you in any way. I have a passion for these old cars that many of friends and family call an obsession, LOL. So I know what not having any support feels like.
WOW! Louisiana!? That's pretty far away, and shipping and handling for parts... I live in Saskatchewan, Canada. Anywho my car has a Lincoln 400 V8. That's all I can tell you. My "little" list of issues is:
Passenger door won't lock at all.
Steering wheel is practically sideways.
Some minor cigarette burns in the upholstery.
Needs a THOROUGH cleaning.
In desperate need of a paint job.
Some of the digital radio number lights are out; I can't tell what station I'm on.
Needs a new alternator, battery, and all new wiring harnesses, and maybe a new stereo. FM sounds like AM, and AM sounds like crap.
Mostly cosmetics that I don't think you need to do, but all together, my car won't work, and everything that isn't cosmetic would cost over 1000$ to fix. My family and friends call me obsessed too, don't worry.
I have kept all my cars in my life. A 1966 Thunderbird convertible, 69 Continental Mark III, a 1973 Continental Mark IV, a 1978 Continental Town Car, the 1983 Mercedes 300SD, and the 99 Infiniti Q45.
The Town Car still is the best long haul cruiser in the bunch. It is equipped with the full flat glass roof that seems to be rather rare, as I have only seen one other with this option. Does anyone know about this feature?
It's black on black with dark red velour interior, We call it our rolling bordello. It's a loaded car with every option Lincoln put out. Everything still works like new from the Cartier clock to the power mini vents. It is the plushest luxury car in the bunch. It now has 82,000 original miles on it. We have had offers on it, but as long as I'm alive, it's going to be in our garage!
I have a '79 TC sedan and I hope I'll never have to sell it. It's been in the family since new.
Hello fellow TC lovers. I have always want a 1979 Tcar and finally found one after hounding the elderly gent to sell it. Black 110000 Kms and just love it. The only problem I have with it is if it sits for any time, it loses fuel and takes along time to prime back up. Not leaking anywhere. I think maybe the carb lets it go back to the tank??? Is it possible to replace carb with newer type ie. throttle body etc? The only item I need for it is a rear bumper and there are no wrecks here in Ontario Canada with good ones. I take it to town once in a while, but I don't park it, I dock it ha ha. Keep those babies on the road guys and show them with pride.

Hi Bob.
If you have no success tracking down a bumper locally, try www.lincolnlandinc.com... I'm sure they'll be able to help you out.
