Interesting comments here. We bought a 96 Towncar from a friend that had it serviced at the dealer for anything that was wrong. First of all the dealer service sucks. This place rips you by wanting to charge you 65 bucks to read the AC codes. After taking car to them for no cold air and only heat all time, they charged me 65 bucks and said they don't see anything. Now later after learning how this thing works... and reading how to change a blend door myself, I took it out and repaired the motor on the blend door drive circuit board. I do work in electronic service though and I have 30 years under my belt doing electronics service so this helped. Why couldnt the dealer on the phone say... press these 2 buttons then that one and tell me the codes. Instead the scammer makes you agree to pay 65 bucks for them to pull the AC codes. I think he even knew that running the diagnostic often breaks the blend door motor free and it runs for a while. This is why they make you agree to pay for nothing. I'm going to the dealer tomorrow and let them know that just a guy off the street can figure this out and fix it... But I'll make sure I do it only of there are a mess of people in the waiting room.

I think they prey on the fact if you own a 47,000 dollar car then you've got excess money. You get the royal sales pitch when you buy new, about how this car even has onboard diagnostics... what good is this when it doesn't save you a dime? For you dealer guys reading this... Come to my field of work and fix laboratory instruments under the FDA guidelines for a day... well on second thought...Don't... lives depend on my diagnosis and repairs.

Lincolns are nice cars, but be ready with your wallet and stay out of the dealers. Would you buy a power-saw at a hardware store?

12 Lincolns and they all gave you trouble? Not terribly bright, are you?

I have owned several dozen cars of all different makes in my life.

They all gave me trouble of some kind.

I just finished putting a blend door on my town car..wasn't that hard.

My advise to Lincoln owners.. always cross reference parts to see if mercury marquis parts will work. often less than half price!!

You complained about them not telling you how to check the codes and then you don't tell us. I'm having problems with my '97 Town car and would like to know. What 2 buttons and then the other one?

If your car won't restart when hot, or starts sometimes but not others, I would look at replacing the fuel pump. This is the exact behavior I witnessed on more than one occasion on another Ford product. Replaced the fuel pump and the problem did not return until the fuel pump failed again several years later. I did not put factory part in. I used a cheaper after market part.

On another note, I had a 93 Escort that went 226,000 miles until my kid rolled it 3 times @ about 60mph. No major injuries (cuts, bruises, collar bone) but there were 5-6 kids in the car. (Please don't go there, that's a WHOLE 'nother topic of discussion. :)

Have a 95 Continental with a minor air bag issue..

The local dealer though is a scam. First time they serviced it, broke the gasket on drain plug.. All the oil drained out practically in a day.. The low oil light came on.. saved the engine.

Next trip, dealer did a free oil change for their mistake, but tried to sell needless services to my girlfriend driving it. A check of the ''conditions'' they found were totally unfounded. $$$$$ Won't go back.

91 TC has probably 250000 miles on it now.. (odometer stopped). Car starts. Runs great... Working AC...

Nice ride.

I bought a 1995 Lincoln TC and just "LOVE IT". I change my oil and filter every spring and fall, along with greasing. Had to change a suspension bag, now the "check air suspension" light comes on. Is there a way to reboot the computer? This is the only problem I've had with the car. Can someone answer my question. Thank you.
