2006 Lincoln Zephyr 17" Chrome Wheels review from North America
"Flys around town like a bumble bee and very comfortable seats"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing so far.
I promised myself that I would never buy a first year production car ever again after my fiasco with a new 1986 Acura Legend, but it would appear that maybe things have improved in the auto industry.
General comments?
For what I paid for this car, almost $34,000, I could not believe that I had to pay almost $2500 extra for a navigation system knowing that this is a 2006 premium car. The navigation system is so easy to use. I can use it better than I can navigate some www’s on my internet at home.
I also paid the $500 extra for HID headlamps.
Maybe if my husband was still living, he could have got the car with one of the options being free, like he has in the past.
Let me say that this car is super crisp and sharp in exterior styling and driving performance. It will run circles around my old car and my mom’s car.
I was drawn to Lincoln because my mothers 2003 Lincoln Town Car with the Key less combination entry on the driver’s door. This has been a life saving option for her and myself both, as I drive her around a lot these days, now that I have finally retired.
I was fully prepared to purchase a new Town Car, so that I could have a car with the keypad entry- being that I was told that only Ford-Lincoln-and Mercury products can be had with this handy feature, but I was pleasantly surprised by this cute little Lincoln and didn’t even know that they existed.
I drove the demo Zephyr and didn’t like the color and they had only one more on the lot, but it was already sold.
I got the pretty 17 inch chrome wheels with an oxford white exterior.
The car is averaging around 23.8 miles per gallon with most of this being city driving.
This car will get up to speed like a rocket and drives super light.
The car corners the best of any car that I have every driven or owned even better than the 2002 BMW that my husband had.
My only problem with the car is that the driver’s right arm rest is way too short and if you want to drive with your right arm, you have to hold your arm up and my arm gets tired too easily. My mother’s Town Car has a full arm rest that extends almost to the front edge of the seat. This is super nice and has spoiled me.
Also the steering wheel doesn’t move as easily as I would like it to move in parking lots. My mom’s Town Car, and even my Volkswagen has/had an easier steering in parking lots. My dealer said that he can have the steering adjusted and reprogrammed if I would like.
The trunk is huge and the front has tons of leg room.
The dash lights are beautiful at night. The steering wheel buttons, that can control everything, even light up at night.
I have not had one recall so far and the car has 7,800-miles on it with out one thing coming loose or vibrating off.
The car does have a super strong smell inside when parked in the hot sun with the windows up for a while. The smell is kind of like weak glue mixed with rubbing alcohol.
The car does have really nice mirrors on the doors that make driving and changing lanes easy.
The a/c and heater gets the cabin to an optimal temp. level in just a few minutes.
I love the rear brake lights, but I don’t like the front of the car a lot.
The car is easy to get into and out of and the back seat has lots of real room.
The car is so quiet that at stop lights I can’t even tell if the car is running or not and the transmission shifts super smooth and I can even tell when it shifts most of the time.
People tell me that the car is a nice car and some of my friends are going to go and look at the new Zephyr for themselves.
I would highly recommend the car to anyone. I did buy the 100,000-mile premium warranty just incase if I repeat the same mistake twice. You know of buying a first year car. If it goes breaking down I will trade it off for a Town Car unless I have mothers already, then I will let them work out the bugs and buy a new 2007 or 2008 for sure.
It looks like Lincoln has done a superb job so far with the Zephyr.
