1997 Mazda 323 16V GXI review from UK and Ireland
"I will cry the day I have to stop driving this car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing yet.
General comments?
OK. I only bought this car yesterday, but I'm absolutely delighted with it.
Had been lumbering around in an ancient Audi 90 and I began to notice these rare and (in my view) beautifully styled cars (I read somewhere that it was designed by the same guy that designed the Porsche 928 - one of my all time favourites).
After reading numerous reviews, I decided that I had to have one. This is the only time I've been specific about what kind of car I'm after and I seem to have made a great choice.
The 1.5 engine is nothing compared to the 2.3 monster I had in the Audi, but it's nippy enough and my bank manager and girlfriend are a lot happier.
Looks just as nice inside as it does out, with plenty of nice toys (electric sunroof, windows, mirrors, airiel).
I've only done 100 miles in it so I can't comment on reliability or economy, but the majority rate the car very highly, and that's good enough for me.
With the quality in this car, there should be a lot more of them on the road.
