2006 Mazda 6 i review from North America
"The finest car I have ever owned, I just wish the clutch were better"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Clutch worn out and broken finger in clutch pressure plate.
Like others the clutch has been a source of problems. It quit without warning one cold night on the road. Mazda Dealership is no help... I had it towed to a familiar independent shop and saved $700 on clutch replacement. We drive too carefully to have worn out a clutch at 34,000 miles. No idea why the finger broke, but it should not have. The dealership had been fine unitl this point and now all they are interested in is my wallet.
We had no slippage or shuddering beforehand... it just quit.
I am disappointed... no more Mazda for this family.
General comments?
Very beautiful and comfortable car. Gearing is too low for daily driving... makes it quick, but hurts fuel consumption. Fit and finish are impeccable. Nice features. Beware of clutchs on 5 speed models.
