1995 Mazda 626 from North America

Summary:

Bad!

Faults:

Transmission failure (year 2000) at 56,000 miles.

General Comments:

The dealer guy at Ford complained why people don’t buy American products. (Translation: buying Ford cars instead of Honda or Toyota). I love American cars, but unless I am willing to walk to work – I will never buy another Ford car.

First Mustang I bought in 1979 (brand new) started leaking oil at 500 miles. After that, I told myself I’ll never get another Ford car. Little that I know Ford took over Mazda.

My Mazda 1995 o/d light started blinking at 55,000 miles – Dealer told me I’ll need a new transmission. I decided to keep it the way it is – using this car only for short distance – going to some place only few miles from home. (Going too far the car will overheat due to transmission) It last for few years. (Any distance longer than 5 miles I will drive my Toyota corolla.)

The transmission died yesterday.

I’ll just sell it to the junk yard.

If Ford gives me a new car for free, I’ll not take it.

Does Ford knows that each bad car they made; they may lose a customer for life?

1995 Mazda 626 from North America

Summary:

RELIABLE

Faults:

The water pump went out at 170,000 miles.

General Comments:

This car has been one of the most loyal cars I have ever had.

I get 40 mpg on the highway.

I bought this '95 Mazda 626 in '99 and still own it.

This car is still going strong.

I would buy another in a heartbeat.

I bought the car with 70000 miles and it currently has 199000 miles and is still perfect.

The only thing I have replace is the water pump, and both front CV joints, and that is it!!

I am very happy with this car and will drive it until it quits!!!

The Mazda 626's w/manual shift are one of the most reliable cars ever made and they sure get amazing gas mileage for a vehicle in its class, you are indeed fortunate to own one with a manual shift.

1995 Mazda 626 DX from North America

Summary:

Car has proved reliable for me for last 70,000 miles

General Comments:

I bought this car from the original owner while I was in college. Since then I have put on over 70,000 miles in 4 years.

I have driven this car cross country on 3 different trips and have NEVER had a problem.

My car is manual (I will never buy automatic) and I think that has helped with it's reliability.

Since owning the car I have only had to do basic maintainence.

The only things I have had to replace is the exhaust system and catalytic convertor.

I am extremely happy with the car.

1995 Mazda 626 ES 2.5L V6 24v DOHC from North America

Summary:

Excellent used car

Faults:

So far, nothing has gone wrong. However, I recently bought it used, and have been inspecting things on it. I fixed battery corrosion, for example, before it became a problem. There's a minor oil leak on the passenger side of the engine block, but I'll fix that.

General Comments:

Handles good, sporty (just making sure I go easy on it due to high mileage), etc. ES is like the LX V6 but with ABS and all wheel disc. It is truly fun to drive. Roomy interior for its size, plenty of trunk space for its size. As I inspect it, I seem to find that it was well assembled by the factory, and that most things on it tend to last longer than I'm accustomed to.

The lx-v6 came with ABS and 4-wheel disks too. I have a 94 lx-v6.

I just brought a used mazda 626 es, and I love the car. but there is a rattling like noise when I push on the accelerator. does anyone know why that may be? I got a new power-steering hose. and certain turns it feels like I don't have power steering. the mechanic said that it still has some air in it. but it will eventually turn easy. is that true? but I love my car I just want to fix everything before something minor become major.
