1995 Mazda 626 LX 2.0 from North America

Summary:

This is a great car, I will miss it if I ever have to get rid of it

Faults:

Replaced valves at 60K.

General Comments:

This car is a great value for the money. I have put over 150K miles on this 4-cyclinder engine and the car had 47K when I bought it.

I will keep it until it no longer runs, and it still sounds quiet and runs smooth.

I highly recommend the manual version of this car.

1995 Mazda 626 GLXE 2.0 from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

Reliable, comfortable and fairly cheap to run

Faults:

Spark Plug leads had to be replaced.

General Comments:

The car is reliable and runs very well. Its very smooth to drive. Recently the car seems a little sluggish to start up especially if not driven for a few days, but once it starts up, its fine. There is enough leg room for the front pasengers, but lacks leg room in rear. Its great for cargo space especially when seats are folded down. Fuel consumption would be considered good for a 2 litre vehicle. I can get about 620km per tank when using for long haul driving.

1995 Mazda 626 LX from North America

Faults:

Transmission went out.

Head gaskets went out.

General Comments:

It's a good reliable car except that the transmission all of a sudden just went out, a lot of the same problems I had with this car other people are seeming to have with it as well, so this tells me there are some major flaws with Mazda's in general!

1995 Mazda 626 DX 2.0 from North America

Summary:

Would not recommend it, very disappointed in quality

Faults:

Oil pump began failing the week after we got it. The lifters hammered when the engine warmed up. We were looking for a simple good used car and got a big headache. A man at my Church works at a dealer, and he replaced the oil pump for me and while he had it apart, he changed the timing belt and the water pump for me. I paid him 500 for his labor, and according to the labor hour book, I got a bargain on that.

General Comments:

Serious Transmission problems. Overdrive light flashed, and we needed another transmission. Aamco fixed it. They said this is a trouble prone transmission.

1995 Mazda 626 LX 2.0 from North America

Summary:

Biggest hassle ever

Faults:

Worst car ever. My transmission went at about 75,000 miles and that cost me about 2100. Now it's at about 124,000 miles and the o/d started flashing and when it shifts from 1-2 gear it jerks extremely bad. And it barely started slipping, I barely got it home by driving in 2nd gear which helped somewhat.

General Comments:

Whoever is thinking about buying one, don't! go with anything Toyota or Honda.

1995 Mazda 626 LX from North America

Summary:

Very reliable car

Faults:

I have a Mazda 626 1995, manual transmission, and it's running really good. I had only a few minor problems with it.

The first problem I had is that I had to change the bearings at about 150000 miles, which came out to be about 1000 bucks.

The second problem I had is that the muffler fell off at 160000 miles. it cost me about 300 bucks to fix it, but it fell off because it rusted through.

The car leaks oil a little bit, but I haven't had to fill it up with oil between oil changes.

Also the power antenna does not come up anymore, but that does not really bother me nor I listen to the radio. That's all of the problems that I could think of.

General Comments:

Mazda 626 has a very good mileage about 30 miles highway and 25 in city. (Stick, 4 cylinder).

Very comfortable and feature rich interior.

Every thing still works, and very cheap maintenance.

The car stop running at 193000 miles.

General Comments:

I bought the car for 100$. I put a battery in and drove the car for 4 days. Then the car started running ruff. After all that the car died. I have replaced the injectors, plugs, and distributor and still can't get the car to run.

Gee willikers! What did you expect for $100?? My advice: Sell the car for parts.. that way you still make a profit and is way better to MAKE money then lose money by pouring it into repairs on a poorly-designed car with such high miles.

You paid 100 bucks for a 95? Did you really expect it to run at all?
