1989 Mazda 626 Super Deluxe review from Australia and New Zealand
"A High Performance Bargain"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Cam Belt was changed at 140000, a little late in the service, but there was no previous service history and I believe it was done at 100000 anyway.
Popping out of 5th gear, mechanic tells me it need a new "detent" spring, apart from this everything is OK.
Clutch is now due for renewal so I will get the detent spring done while the box is out.
General comments?
Very reliable car and the amount of factory equipped options installed you would be pressed hard to find a compatable car.
Turbocharger comes on very quick and strong under 2000 RPM, torque steer can be evident as its front wheel drive so you need to hold on tight.
Reliability is excellant, if they made them still brand new I would have no hesitation in buying another one.
They are Luxury packed with sports performance to boot, and are suprisingly good on fuel consumption too.
