1993 Mazda 626 Limited review from Australia and New Zealand
"Nice car to drive and look at, but is mechanically complex and fragile"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Top radiator tank split at 110,000 kms -$480 to repair as part of radiator also replaced.
115,000km - Replaced front valve cover gasket (leaks were allowing oil to enter the spark plug recesses and onto manifold).
120,000 - Water pump replacement now required - unsure of cost, but apparently is a large and therefore expensive job (new cam belt is part of the job).
Power steering also making growling noises...
General comments?
Very refined car to drive. Automatic transmission is not good at kicking down. Power steering is very vague at speed.
xcellent on open road. Gas guzzler around town.
Be careful to buy one with a full service history.
