1990 Mazda 626 LX from North America - Comments

I have a 90 Mazda 626.We got it with 110,000,it now has 133.00.I to am having Transmission problems. I only had the car 2 years.I'm not sure if the people before me had it replaced.

My car will rev when taking off and it to shake while it is stopped. Like someone said before it happen even worse while the A/C is on. Other than the transmission problem I really have not had much problems with it and love my car.

We bought a 1998 Mazda 626 LX 4 cylinder the beginning of October. It had 93,550 miles on it, now it has over 94,000... The "Check Engine" light comes on for a few days, then goes off for a few days. We've been having this jerking problem when we accelerate from a stop or slowing down, it sounds much like your problem. We went to Auto Zone because they do a complete and unfortunately very vague check on the engine to find out what's wrong, they told us it was the Torque Converter Clutch System Performance (something to do with the transmission). Plus I think our belts need to be changed or need dressing, because there's a screeching sound coming from under the hood. The one place I called to find out if they could give me an estimate price is going to charge me $55.00 just to check it for themselves!

My Wife and I have owned a 1990 Mazda 626 LX 4 door since it was new.

At 144,000 miles I overhauled the engine reaming out the cylinders using over-sized rings, shaved the head and block, Put in a computer racing chip and a supercharger,

replaced everything else new under the hood including ball joints, spent about $ 4,500.00. As a result I have a new car.

On the body I fiberglass merged a mustang hood scoop to the hood, It has a Toyota Scion modified heptagon hole front

grill with RX 8 Mazda front emblem, Chevy Camaro Muffler to create

duel exhaust with 6"x3" chrome oval tips. My own design wing

on the trunk made out of aluminum and fiberglass merged onto the trunk with an RX 8 Mazda emblem in the rear center of the wing.

I love the car and plan to keep it till I die, although my wife said since I've souped it up, if I get any traffic tickets she will take me out early.
