1993 Mazda 626 LX review from North America

What things have gone wrong with the car?
Picked up from Firestone yesterday for replacement of flex pipe (worn) and manifold (they cracked attempting to remove) - $266. It sounded like the modified cars, I couldn't have that.
Tires seems to need replacing more than other cars. $250 for four at Firestone (medium line).
Replaced front axle for last year's inspection and cracked windshield (from winter) $250.
If I let it idle for awhile or in stop or go traffic, the motor taps lightly, but I get my rpm's back up and it goes away--it has always done this and never caused problems (little embarrassing) but I just add some oil if it needs it.
May possibly need struts soon...
General comments?
It may sound like a lot... but the darn little thing has 229688 miles and I paid 600 dollars 2 and a half years ago! And I have been really really really really hard on it for those 60000 or so miles. I have kept the oil changed and maintained it and it has treated me soooooo well.
We took the car from Pennsylvania to Colorado last summer--3000 mile round trip and it ran like a champ! I was out for a flat tire and two quarts of oil! I was skeptical to take it because it had such high mileage--but was soooo excited when nothing happened!
The car perfectly suits me, I love it's style and it is keeping me satisfied looks-wise.
