Replaced fuel pump, timing belt & clutch changed, 2 cv joints, camshaft seal leaks cannot be cured, childlocks won't disengage, changed one rear shock.
My car has 152,000 miles on it, enginegearbox are still perfect, no rust on body. Smashing car, would buy another, electric gizmos work as well as when the car was new. Seat could be more comfortable, the engine is powerful enough for my needs, addition of a rear windscreen wiper would be a great, parts are a tad expensive eg £6.50 for a digital clock bulb.
I have a 1992 1.8i GLX which has done 149,000 miles and I tend to agree with this gentlemans comments. It is an exceptional car and I believe that it is somewhat under-rated by British car critics. As said in the previous comments it is an expensive car to maintain.

These are good cars let down by poor rear brake callipers, which have the tendency to seize up. Other than that, I had one with 14000 miles and it was so quiet I had to every now and then tap the throttle to see if the engine was still running.
The back seat had masses of space. A beautiful car overall.
I had a 1992 2.0 GLXi from 2000-2007 and I still miss it... all the same problems as discussed above, CV joint, brake calipers... as these cars were so well made, that all owners will have experienced the same minor problems as they were due to weak components.
Mine had 130K miles when I got it, and I put another 55K on top of that.. so the old girl retired with 185K miles on the clock... both engine and gearbox are still fine... but a combination of Irish coastal weather, and the high salt content in the air, along with the silly speed bumps throughout the land (Ireland) combined with my swift driving really punished the main mechanics of the car... like struts and their mounts.. so eventually the was just feeling a bit loose and my friend and handy man who did all the maintenance said that the replacement of parts was getting to hard as screw threads etc., had worn out, or old components had just rusted so much, that there would be no way to mount replacement component.
Blackie.. is still out the front of my parents house in Donegal... and I saw her last weekend... a sad sight indeed... sitting there with a flat tyre, another half deflated, water penetrating... mould spreading throughout her insides... It's just not right... Engine is still incredible and flawless, gearbox never gave a problem in all those miles... I'm hoping she gets sent out to pasture by being turned into a stock-car for some final drives down by the dunes on the edge of the Atlantic...
What a car... for any of you who live in a dry climate, especially Oz... if you get your hands on the model from late'92 to '97... grab it... there's nothing like them...
Easy to park quickly in city centres... changes lanes so crisp and easily... I made some good time with Blackie nationwide... although, mainly urban driving... on the motorway, ones you were over 80mph it always had a little niggling shake coming from the front passenger side wheel... and she used to shake on that same wheel when I braked from fast speeds coming into roundabouts and junctions... spent a lot of time changing, disks, struts etc., trying to remedy that.. but never really did... test drove another 93 model there this autumn, and it had the exact same shake in the same wheel.
Poor old Vlackie... rip... unless some good Dr. Frankenstein can give her a second wind!
