My Throw out bearing had to be replaced
at 120,000 miles.
The bed of the truck is really starting to rust badly.
I really love my truck. I would buy another if Mazda still made the truck. The new ones don't even compare. I would
have no problem getting in it right now and driving it across the country. I know that it will get me there and back!
So why the bad review frowning face?
I bought my 1986 B2000 on July 17, 1985 and we have never parted. At 196k miles it still has the original shocks, original rear brake drums, original clutch fluid, etc., etc., etc..., and I am now using it to haul water - it's rated at 3/4 ton. Full frame, sturdy, geared low - it can handle many "4wd" roads although a rear wheel drive vehicle.
Biggest problem has been the radiator and thermostat. Never put an aftermarket thermostat in this vehicle and be sure to use high toxicity antifreeze (the orange stuff) or you will have problems with the radiator clogging - which causes overheating and subsequent blowing of the head gasket.
I really can't see what the constant problems with the radiator are coming from. The truck I bought had hit a deer or something before I bought it and I never had a problem with over heating on the hottest days even when DANGEROUSLY exceeding it's towing and hauling capacity at the same time. I slipped in am extra leaf off of another Mazda pickup to increase the hauling capacity and the differential ate itself due to a bad seal but those where the only problems I ever really had with the drive train aside from normal seal replacement. It even had ladybugs and corn seeds in the e.g.r ports of the air cleaner.
