It seems like most mx3's with transmission problems are automatic. I own a 94 mx3 5 speed transmission is never been a problem it's really fun. The only problem with it is once you get one problem on your motor even though you fix it's always followed by another problem. I fixed my distributor, but my car is now miss firing reckon it's the injector.
I have an MX-3 (Eunos 30x here in Australia), and its got 270,000kms on it. I recently got a j-spec 2.5L V6, fully rebuilt, forged pistons etc, running 24psi from a turbo... ran a best et of 10.31sec @ 197km/h on street tyres, so yes, these can be very, very quick, still got NOS to go yet...
And for the record, I've had hardly any problems (my old man has a 2004 Honda CR-V, which threw a timing chain... new motor @ 18,000km, so yeah luck of the draw...)
Any questions on these, cars drop me a line at...fst_30x@yahoo.com.au
Hey everyone I have a 94 mx3 5sp with 280000km on it. Tranny and engine both work top notch, Body looks great, bit of rust at rear dog legs, nothing serious. My problem is the rear frame is rusting out bad on both sides. Have any of yous had this problem?
I have a 94 RS model; it was a great little car, so much went wrong with it, but I work in a shop and everything was wear and tear; tires, ball joints, tie rods, waterpump. Nothing too serious. I actually loved the car so much that I bought a V6 model.
These cars are sweet and you don't see too many around (I mean it's not a Sunfire you know?)
As for performance, you can get a JDM engine (kl-ze) which has 200 horse; practically a bolt in engine other than the ECU and air flow sensor. With the right suspension mods you could easily get yourself into some troubles with the law ;) \
Happy mx3ing!!!
