2000 Mazda MX5 Miata Sport Package review from North America
"Looking for a great little sports car? - NOT HERE!!"
General comments?
Even though I loved my '85 Fiero GT (V6), I wanted to drive something lighter and experience "the best little sports car on the road".
Boy was I disappointed.
The new models have power steering, totally destroying any of the "purist" feeling any of the older ones might've had with its sloppiness, lightness, and lack of feel.
These cars are unbelievable tiny, I don't think they're made for humans. I am only 5-4 and felt incredibly cramped. All the controls are equally Barbie-sized.
The engine with its gargantuan 1.8 liters of displacement makes for very slow acceleration.
It is very buzzy and uncomfortable to drive at speed; to keep up with traffic at 35mph you need to be screaming at 4000rpms! And this thing is touted as a "touring car"?!
Horrible piece of junk, nothing like what I expected, thank god for Fieros.
