1999 Mazda MX5 Miata LS review from North America

At 31,000 miles the rear end differential leaked oil. Initially I did not catch it - and by the time I did, I just let it go till it screamed 'replace me'. It was under warranty.

At 40,000 miles the AC began to leak. I never fixed it... turned the car in for a new Miata! I ate $2k on my old car and paid sticker on a new 2002 - but got the 0% interest. Great deal!

I live in Orlando, FL, so I drive this car year round with the top down - except when it rains.

I bought my classic red, tan top, 1999 Miata LS new in Oct 1999. I am 6'2", so the fit is a little tight, but I got used to it. But that is about as tall a driver that the car will accomodate.

No space for luggage. If you plan a trip for two, you both better pack light.

Aside from the space, this car is soooooo much fun. It handles so well and feels and sounds great. The power is OK... but, it leaves you wanting more. It is a true sports car, and a very reliable one at that.

I liked it so much, that I turned it in for a Miata LS 2002. Such a deal! OK... at 40,000 I needed tires, brakes, an AC leak fixed (warranty), and the interior was a little worn. Exterior was near perfect. But, I got a very good deal on a new 2002... sweet!
