"Fun and reliable generally"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Both electric windows broke down, necessitating new replacements at $A500.00 each.

Back Plastic window became brown necessitating a replacement at 110,000 Km.

Differential leaked oil, I didn't pick it and it seized up at 60 Km/hr after 147,000 km.

Tiny Battery needs frequent trips to recharge.

General comments?

Fun car, economical.

I am disillusioned with the Mazda Dealership, as they did not know their product well enough to advise me of the differetial problem when I reported it. I narrowly avoided a major accident.

The Wrecker Mechanic said the differtial was a design fault that cropped up more frequently with the MX-5, but the Mazda Dealership were unaware of it.

Running costs 4/10? I have the same model as this, I have done about 50 000K's and only replaced the Cam belt when it was due at 100 000k's. As for gas, I regularly get between 10 - 12 k's to the litre around town, slightly better on the open road. This is a great little car, heaps of fun, economical, and still going strong after all these years.

I totally agree with the second guy. The car is one of the cheapest to run I've ever owned, & I can't believe how much fun I'm having for so little expense. Anyhow it's not about Miles per Gallon, it's about Smiles per Mile. & the MX5 is a hands down winner in that dept.
