2002 Mazda MX5 pheonix review from UK and Ireland
"I simply love this car - a true drivers car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing.
General comments?
Let me deal with the 'hairdressers car' tag... this car is about pure driving pleasure and so good is the chassis that legally going through a roundabout in a 30 mph limit induces a big grin.
After the mellifluous Alfa 2.0 twin spark the mazda was at first harsh and lacking in character, but patience paid off. Now at 17,000 the motor is bedding in very nicely not an alfa twin cam (yet?) but sweet and free revving all the same... and in harmony with the whole.
Gear box;let the car warm up! Then it is flick flick all day...wonderfull.
