"Buy it, but read my review first to know more"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

This is one of the best car ever built. It's my 7th car and 3rd mx6.

- My first one was automatic 2.5 V6 black with 252000km on it. I bought it to see how this runs. I put extra 30000 on it. Car has very nice handling, looks good, good on gas, powerful, confortable and very strong body. The only thing that went wrong with the car was I got a crack on the windshield which was my own fault that's it.

I did regular oil changes on it that's it. I sold it because it reached high km. I bought another mx6, it was red with 169000km on it 2.5 V6.

That car was amazing I put 60000km on it all I changed was brakes and regular oil change that's it.

Automatic mx-6 cons.

Automatic transmission in these cars has a problem it gives a jerk from 1st to 2nd gear. To protect it from getting damage put the car in drive while you are stuck in traffic it does help a looooooooot, it will save your transmission trust me. Even if the tranmission breaks you have to spend 600 to 700 total to get it fixed which is very cheap as compared to new cars. Engine will obviously burn oil if the car was roughly used without proper oil changes and engine flush.

Standard is my current mx6 which is my 3rd one green in color 2.5 V6. this car is a rocket it runs great and the transmission is also good.

As far as power window switch is concern. Come on it's an old car what do you expect from it. It's not a BMW even a BMW give problems all the time I had one before all these Mazda'a and I had a lot of problems with it. BMW 3 series suck. anyway power window switch is only 10 bucks if you get it from someone who is parting out his mx6 which you will see all the time.

One person mentioned cd player broke. I don't know what to say now > CD player is something which last max 5 years after that I think you should buy a new one so that's something you don't look at when you buy a car.

Rotors struts and timing belt you need to change it. Maybe the person you bought the car he didn't change it and when you got the car it broke it's ur luck.

Back seats are tight come on it's a 2 door car not a 4 door luxury sedan. at least it's a lot bigger then Honda Prelude generation 4. I owned one of those as well. Good running car, but poor interior.

Sunroof is perfect in these cars. It will damage if you open it when it's cold and car is frozen. Since the motor has a limit to take tension.

Winter car is not very very good, but it's not that bad either since it's a front wheel drive. But it's not a winter car it's more like a summer spring autumn car :)

Drive seats are comfy.

General comments?

Honestly, Mazda MX6 is one of the best car in his category.

It's very very reliable, comfy, runs perfect on the highways, quick, good looking; interior is very very nicely designed, automatic transmission is not that great, but it works good and will last you long if you follow my tips mentioned above, to get the parts is very easy, going to the dealer is like burning money for any car, keep one mechanic you know very well and get all repairs from him.

This car is better then Ford Probe, since Probe is the same thing under the hood, but quality is not as good as Mazda.

It is better then Honda Prelude SR model, Vtec is good, SR is crap with no power and crap interior.

This Car is the best one if you want one you should take a test drive check all the power options if they work, for automatic transmission you should accelerate the car hard from first geart and see if the it slips meaning if it takes time to switch from 3rd to 4rth gear don't buy it, otherwise it's good.

Use thick oil if it burns oil it will be fine.

Don't buy res colour it fades after a while.

Black and blue is nice.

BUY THIS CAR it's perfect don't listen to anyone who says it's not good. Since this is my 3rd time I bought the same car.

Hi, I have just put a deposit down on an MX6. It looks really nice, and it should be quite powerful. I have tried to look and find out what hp it has, because I wanted to know if I had made the right choice, but different sites say different things, so does anyone know?

I have owned an Alfa Romeo 156 V6, a Mitsubishi FTO 2ltr V6, and an MR2 Turbo. I just hope it measures up to them.

The guy I'm buying it off says it's really quick, but he's bound to say that because he knows I want it for speed, and he obviously wants to sell it. Thanks.

Speed for use on a track I might add, as on public roads I always stick to the limits...

The 93-97 for the most part, if it was made in Michigan, it will have 165 horsepower for the V-6 and around 115 for the 4 banger. If it is left hand drive it was made in Michigan.

Great review all together... enjoyed it very much. Have just got my hands on an unbelievable 1993 Mazda MX6, which had been stored in a garage for years... it's has a legitimate low mileage and purrs like a brand new kitten... the car is absolutely immaculate, inside and out, but I have one question... I've driven 626 manual gearboxes for years, and this is my first auto trans..

You say to leave it in D in traffic... I've been putting it in N, as I can feel the revs building up when I'm sitting on the brake, and I feel it's better to let the engine rest until the traffic is ready to begin moving again... I'm talking about serious gridlock here!!

As shift sticks are more usual on this side of the pond, I would value your American views on auto transmissions and how to get the best out of it... is it OK to switch from D to S when your slowing down in traffic??? etc., etc.

Any responses welcome.

Thanks in advance.
