1995 Mazda MX6 LS from North America - Comments

"A gem, a future classic.."

What things have gone wrong with the car?

CV joints needed replaced shortly after purchase. My fault since I didn't take the dealer up on their "Within 2 weeks we'll fix anything" offer.

Timing belt and water pump replacement after car started running very hot around 95k miles.

General comments?

I've never received anything, but praise on the appearance of this car. It's like nothing else on the road now or then. The car is the beautiful shade of reddish/maroon, I think it's called Rose. I have 17" Enkei Shogun rims with lo-pro Kumho tires, which definateley adds to it's aggressive appearance.

The car is quick as well, especially off the line. I don't think it can compete with a lot of the more advanced cars on the road, Vtec Preludes and the like. It's quickness and speed is ample, but I don't think this car was designed as a street racer, just a good looker.

I'm having a lot of trouble letting go of this Mx. My mileage is up at 101k now, I haven't taken care of it as well as I should, and now I need something I can definately depend on for at least another 6 years. The problem is that there's nothing out there that can compare to it in my eyes. Plus, the dealer wants to give me a paltry $2000 as trade in.

If and when I get rid of this car, I think I can safely say that I won't find another car made today with anywhere near the same personality as this MX.

Hey there. I couldn't agree more with your comment on your MX6. I have a 1995 Mazda mx6 LS as well And it has about 93,000 miles on it. And it is definitely one of the best rides I have ever had. I love the way it handles and performs and I love the way it looks. I bought it for 10,000 dollars, and to beleive how cheap they are going for now is unbelievable. I too am at the crossroads with either fixing up my car or getting a new one. The tie rodes are going out and it's making a slight ticking noise. I still owe 4,500 on it other than that its running very well. I just can't make up my mind whether to sell it or fix it up. Good luck with your decision. If you know any good places to go to get cheap parts for our cars I would really like to know. My Email is Backstabber420@yahoo.com

Thank you and good luck with your decision

sincerely Chris Pratt.

My 95 mx-6 ls also has some problems, but to buy a comperable auto at todays prices is much more than fixing my mx6. Thanks for your input. I've decided that I'll try to get 200G miles out of a car that I love to drive and has a look that is timeless, clasic, unique, cool, beautiful and I love it. How long does a clutch last? I've got 90g miles on mine and it seems fine. Is this possible? By the way, the auto I would purchace to replace my mx-6 LS is the Nissan g35 coupe. Any thoughts?

I'm the original owner of my '95 Mazda MX-6 LS. It has 160,000 miles and is still on the original clutch!!! I suspect it's just beginning to give out... I don't really know what to look for though, as this was my first manual transmission.

As with you all, I am at a crossroads with whether to spend the 4,000 + dollars to get it fixed up again, or to invest in a new vehicle.

Every time I try to think about giving it up though, I can't stand the thought.

Kind of like a first love I guess.

I found a ‘95 mx6 on craigslist that has minor rear end damage (around the area btwn driver’s side tail light and the middle trunk hatch area) –a kind of “pushed in” looking damaged spot…. Anyone have any Idea of the cost for repair?

The asking price is $1000.

Other than the rear end, the rest of the car looks fantastic.

New tires

new exhaust

New alternator.

But… it has 150K miles.
