1993 Mazda MX6 LS from North America - Comments

"Fastest car I have yet owned"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Parts I have replaced very shortly after purchase:

My distributer failed.

The timing belt and tensioner failed.

My water pump began weeping.

Crankshaft position sensor failed.

The PCM decided to go on a big smoke break.

Battery has completely drained.

Thermostat got completely stuck closed.

Parts that still need replacing:

Upper radiator hose.

Front tire. (blowout)

Door panels not secure.

Rear brake caliper.

Trunk Lid.

General comments?

I purchased my car from a private owner. It has weight reduction in the rear, a 9,000 mile rebuilt V6, cone filter, strut bar, factory NGK wires and plugs, perfect street car.

This car has a few kills under its belt:

Honda civic turbo.

Nissan 240sx.

Honda Prelude.

1995 Chevrolet truck.

1995 7.3 F-350 Power stroke.

This V6 revs so high, its for real.

I had a dream last night of hitting the secret fuel cut. (7800rpms)

Oh, and trying to launch at 3K rpm on bald street tires is a big no-no with this car!!!

Please be careful. I hope you are driving in this manner on open roads with no traffic.

As a mechanical engineer, I can tell you, that you "will" destroy your vehicle by "launching" it at 3k RPM. That is an unbelievable impulse force on the driveline, and is an assured way sending your car (or yourself) to an early grave... very early. I would not want to be reading yours, or your car's (on this site...?) obituary anywhere, anytime soon.

Also, just because you pull out ahead of someone at a light, does not mean they were trying to race you.

Please remember, there is a time and a place for everything...

Have fun, but above all else, be SAFE!

A few "kills" under its belt.

What a joke!

Honda civic turbo. (Base Civic with Turbo decal?)

Nissan 240sx. (Driven by an old lady o her way to the mall for the big sale on support hose?)

Honda Prelude. (Didn't know you were racing. Driver was on cell phone at the time ordering Pizza?)

1995 Chevrolet truck. (Yep, this one was a real race- an S10 4 cylinder!!??)

1995 7.3 F-350 Power stroke. (This poor guy didn't even see you. The 40 foot trailer he was towing blocked his view!??)

One last thing, grow up!

I drive a large, luxurious 326 HP coupe (BMW 850Ci) and my other car is a BMW 750iL, but I never feel the need to "beat" anyone else.

I drive safely and sensibly all the time.

I have a child and a beautiful, young, wife.

Reading your "review", I wonder how many young idiots like yourself think they've "killed" my car, or "beaten" me, when I wasn't even trying to race them, simply because they overtook me or sped away senselessly from the lights.

OK, I do not like doing runs in traffic, just on clear roads. Next, HAHA I like the comments about the other cars, it just seems funny. I do the speed limit about 95 percent of the time on any given road. So, no I do not like to do 100 plus in traffic, and I'm just sayin mx6's are a nice bland car. I did some foolish stuff when I first owned the car, I mean cmon who wouldn't attempt to power out their car when they first got it??? Anyways I discovered a few things about the car, its not designed period for drag racing, its just a mazda touring coupe that failed after 93-97 (2nd gen). Just a nice car that unfortunately made the cut. I'm trying to trade it in for a truck, I live out in the country.

This car cannot be a 92, as stated above the 2nd gen cars are 93-97. No mx6's came with v6's before then, just v4. There are 92 v6 mx6's, but they were only sold in Europe and Australia, and are a different car lol.

Just thought I'd clarify.
