1993 Mazda Protege DX review from North America

"Without queston, love it"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

When I got the car, the prevous owner (my mother) had let my sister drive it for about a year or so. And we all know how younger sisters can take car of things.. It had been my mothers since right off the lot. When I got it earlyer this year I had to replace:

Radaitor (Only to find the the problem was with the cap, which for all I know could have be the stock one.)

Valve cover

And other things like filters and spark plugs/wires D-Cap etc.

Before that the shocks had to be replaced.

The paint job is now spotty and can see all the way down to the metal, but bumpers are still fine. The drivers side seat has a hole in it, but everything else is almost perfect.

As others are saying; I think that with regular tune ups and check ins this car will last untell the end of the earth alongside the cockroaches.

General comments?

Every mechanic that I have look at the tells me that it should be dead. That they "have never seen a Mazda with 260,000 miles on it" and "wouldn't be suprized if it stoped working any day."

And I laugh has I power away in my go-kart of a little beast. I love the car and enjoy driving it more than the durango and caliber that I have available to me.

The only issue, and reason I am looking into buying a newer model is that every now and then the engine 'dives' or 'baugs down' abit. When I shift out of gear or push the clutch in sometimes it RPM's drop down super low. Could be something that I am doing wrong when shifting though as I don't know really why it would do such a thing.
