1974 Mazda RX4 RE 12a review from Australia and New Zealand

A aftermarket fuel pressure regulator's seals wore out within one month. Tacho stopped working and displayed wrong rpm's. The rotors oil rings have started to wear resulting in some oil burning at startup. Front end suspension completely worn out.

I bought this car for $3000 at the end of 2002 with a "refreshed engine" at 14000km's. The 13b was ported slighty to add alittle more torque and the ability to rev faster and produce more hp. The rx4 hasn't caused any problems and starts after a few seconds of cranking, this is not a problem and starts all the time. The interior is very nice a clean with no imperfections whatsoever. Though the only thing I don't like about it is that the front ends suspension is worn and soft and doesn't grip well in the wet so I avoid driving it then before I have new shock absorbers and new springs installed. The car accelerates quite quickly for what it is and gives most 6's and V8's a run. It had no trouble winding up to and over 130miles which is the speedometers limit, and the 4 speed gearboxes are very strong and can take quite a large beating and a lot of Hp through it. I would reccomend an rx4 to anyone if it is in resonable to very good condition. If you want one its best to grab one now, because soon not many will be left and the prices on these cars go up every year considerably.
