"A real performance car for the price of a hatchback.."

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Drivers side door lock (inside) stopped working, quite easy to fix at any reputable garage.

General comments?

First thing about this car is the performance, it truly is something to behold. Putting your foot down in second and third will push you right back into your seat and really get your heart racing, especially with the second turbo kicking in at around 5000rpm.

Handling is very good, and is exactly what I expected from a sports car. Having said that though the ride is still comfortable enough to drive around town centres (watch out for some speed humps though) even where I live which has some of the worst roads in the UK.

Inside everything wraps around you nicely and is easy to reach, there's no real squeaks or noises from the dash or doors and things seem to have been put together nicely. The driving position is pretty good and comfortably accommodates me which is no mean feat as I'm 6'3".

Fuel economy is not brilliant, but that's to be expected from a performance car. On average I spend about £30 a week on higher quality fuel (Shell Optimax has the highest rating with 98 ron) and that's having a bit of fun with my foot down sometimes.

Overall am very happy with my purchase, the car came from Japan in October 2004 and I bought it for a little under £10,000. For that price you just can't go wrong.

Hello,

Sorry to bother you, your car sounds really nice and good. I would just like to ask if you have to rebuild the engine every 3000km - 40000km as I was told or is it expensive to run? Do you get pulled over much?

Why are some selling very cheap while others aren't and they both look and run the same. Whats going on. How reliable are the rotary's. I am real interested in buying one I'm just nervous if I would be digging myself in debt or not.

Why are people so very afraid of owning a rotor. there is no truth in what you have been told to rebuilding an engine every 3000 to 40000km. if you drive it very hard it will inevitably need a rebuild just like a piston engine. it is more powerful and more fun to drive than a piston engine will ever be. you just need to make sure you look after it.

Excellent car to own and drive. would recommend it to anyone who is thinking about it.

People tend to be worried about them because they require a bit of looking after. Rebuilds are done around every 60 to 70k miles (depending on compression figures).

The price can be depending on a number of things, but the main factor is whether or not it could need a rebuild in the near future. So low mileage examples or recently rebuilt ones tend to be more expensive (but worth it) compared to one with 65k miles without a rebuild.
